Special project - La Velarca
A floating residence to welcome friends and family away from the mainland. It's 1959 and the BBPR - Gian Lugi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers - are commissioned to design a houseboat at the request of Mr. and Mrs. Emilio and Fiammetta Norsa. In three years, the same group of architects who had recently completed the Velasca Tower in Milan designed and built a small masterpiece in the history of modern architecture, socalled The Velarca.

Together with the Ernesto Riva Shipyard, designers Tommaso Lorenzini and Francesco Manfredi of Dalmoto has been engaged in the meticulous restoration and re-engineering of the furnishings and interiors of the boat house project by BBPR studio.
Docked at Ossuccio on Lake Como in front of Comacina Island, the Italian-style house boat that floats brushing along the water in an all-wood hull is now a public treasure of the FAI “Fondo Ambientale Italiano” and is ready to be admired closely and visited as its owners wanted from the very beginning.
